Christmas Decor
I live on YouTube, where else can you find so very many crafty ideas! With Christmas right around the corner I decided to recreate a creation from Alittleshabbychic. I fell in love with it the first time I watched the video.
I'll update this post as I progress!

So it took me a little longer than anticipated to finish this! Actually I'm at a loss of what else to do with it!
I imagine I'll pick it back up around September once I start to get in the holiday spirit again!

It all started with a dream
10 years ago, 10 years ago this week to be precise. Our honeymoon gift from the mother in law was a trip to Arizona. At first I thought she must not like me much if she's sending us into the desert in the middle of summer! :D
But.. we made our first visit to the wild west and fell in love. I dreamed of living here for several years after that initial visit. We planned on moving here when we retired. But in the middle of one of those miserable nor'easter storms my sister called me from the equally cold south side of Chicago and said let's move to Arizona.
Let's move to Arizona
The dream was rekindled to a roaring flame and it wouldn't leave. Could we just up and leave our frigid abode in the mountains of Massachusetts. No jobs lined up, no real reason to move to AZ other than just "wanting to move".
I bounced the idea around in my head for a bit, I bounced the idea off my husband for a bit, we bounced the idea off of his mother and she in turn bounced the idea off of her daughter. We all wanted to move!
So within 6 months 3 families had packed up all their belongings and traveled cross country to move to Arizona. We had no connections, have I mentioned that, no jobs lined up. Other than 2 scouting visits to decide where we would settle in, we had no idea what we were in for out here.
What were we getting ourselves into!

Accountability
Wow, I have to say I am really surprised at how many viewers I have! I had 68 views on my post the other day. That really motivated me to know that there are that many folks out there who are possibly in the same boat as me, or even just interested in my tiny itty bitty corner of the internets!
So, I originally came to make a post about my pedometer, so with that in mind here goes!
To celebrate the occasion I purchased a pedometer. I bought the Sync Elite activity tracker.

This lil guy actually tracks my steps indoors. Something alot of the more expensive ones can't do (found this out through researching). I do most of my working out indoors, at least til I drop some weight and don't feel like I'm dying in the hot Arizona sun while working out!
So as I sit here looking at my treadmill while I'm syncing my pedometer to my phone through an app that keeps track of my activity (Isn't that so cool!?), and I realize I need to hit that treadmill! I didn't quite hit my 10,000 steps yesterday!
BTW folks.. please feel free to speak up! I see you out there :)... Please share your experiences with the dieting world and your knowledge! I don't bite and I am always looking for more ways to get motivated.

Summer time is the right time to shop online!
It's that time again here in Arizona. Garage sales are just not enough to get me out on the weekends anymore! 110 degrees means I stay indoors with the curtains drawn, or hopping in the pool to cool off!
BUT, this year is a bit different. We're planning a move and as with any move it's time to clean house. My attic has filled again and we're downsizing so this will be a huge online yard sale over the next few months! So make sure to either join my site through friend connect, or bookmark me cause I am sure there is going to be something for everyone!
First up are some gorgeous southwestern oil paintings that we bought a few years ago.
This Carol Grigg original painting for Gango Gallery was originally priced at over $200. However there is a sign of a moisture wrinkle so I'm willing to go down to $45 for this piece. This is a very large piece.
This piece is 34 3/4" wide by 42 3/4" tall.
These one of a kind Jose Aricopa signed oil paintings. They are $400 per piece or $1000 if you take all 3.
Each horizontal Aricopa is 21 1/4" tall & 33" wide. The vertical Aricopa is 33" tall by 21 1/4" wide

Hitting rock bottom and praying for a bounce back
I've had so many posts floating through my head the past few years, but the apathy always seems to win. Well... it turns out the apathy had a strong engine driving it. A big ole 450 horsepower engine and it kinda ran me over.
Over the past 7 years there has been a few constants in my life. My weight constantly rose, and my energy constantly dropped. I have one of those insidious diseases that lie in wait for years, sometimes decades. I've been carrying mine around since at least 1992. Most likely my whole life though.
My disease has a name. It goes by the name Hashimoto Thyroiditis. I was first officially diagnosed in 2010 by an infectious disease doctor. Because not a single doctor that I had seen in 30 some odd years ever thought to check my autoimmune. (Take a good sized notch out of my health here)
My life has been yoyo weights. From anorexic to obese. Let me tell you, going through high school is hell being "pleasantly plump". It made me into a people please, doing anything for friendships...
Hashimoto btw is considered insidious by me because it doesn't come like a thief in the night. Rather it knocks the door down and brings in all his friends with it. The first friend to take board in my sick body was fibromyalgia. For almost 2 years I was in so much pain I was nearly always bed ridden. (Take a few more notches out of my health and energy).
Somewhere along my journey we moved from Massachusetts and headed to Arizona in hopes that a drier clime would help me. It did, to a degree. I felt invigorated and decided to attack Hashi as hard as it was attacking me. Google became my friend and knowledge was my weapon.
At different points during my fight I had so many attacks on my health. Bells palsy with a side of shingles. I contemplated suicide with that one. My doctors only concern was to put me on anti depressants. My body reacted to it by giving me GERD. Followed at a later date by tactile allodynia which started to be a constant visitor. Let's not forget migraines & insomnia.. you name it, if it was on some hashimoto side effect list. I had it.
Then I started vomiting, all the time. Someones cooking in the house? My stomach turns. Thinking about sleeping? Hmm nope, here's some vomit. It was like morning sickness on steroids. Back to the doctor.. yet another diagnosis. Acute gastritis with intestinal metaplasia without H.Pylori. Which means my stomach cells are becoming precancerous and turning into intestinal cells. And not to be outdone! I was also diagnosed with gastroparesis. So my stomach is paralized. Life just kept getting funner and funner right?
I left the appointment and felt every hit Hashi had dealt me the past several years. (Take the last of any energy and health and toss it in the can)
I AM at rock bottom.
Energy, or not my life is literally on the line from this disease. I have to lose this weight and get healthy!
Its my decision, who's going to win?
So I am working on things. My newest doctor seems to be open minded enough to try new things that I bring to the table. I am pretty much dosing myself with thyroid meds and we are working on getting my hormones in balance as well. I am staring at my treadmill and I am thinking I have enough time to crank out a 20 minute walk.

Deranged Genes
My deranged genes... and no.. I don't mean jeans :)
How does one go about losing weight when their genetic make-up leans toward fat. I've been a healthy sized girl my whole life. Pleasantly curved in all the right places, not obese. Until I got sick. I have so many factors now counting against me, it is seriously like an uphill battle even trying to raise my energy level. Let alone actually losing weight. I have so many strikes against me. I have hashimoto thyroiditis, I have gluten intolerance, I have chronic fatigue syndrome, and fibromyalgia.
How do I end up winning at life with those against me? I've turned to prayer, yes I am pretty sure God has better things to do than worry about my weight. I have tried all the over the counter flavor on the moment bottles. I have even *gasp* tried working out. As my fibro has gotten worse over the years though my ability to work out has waned to such a degree that it is work just laying in bed at times.
So, speakup! Anyone with these issues have any common sense luck? I'm all for hearing stories of success. I could use some happyness, even if it is by hearing someone elses happy and successful weight loss story!

Oh Death How We Despise you
Death & Cancer
Two things most people don’t like talking about. The red headed step children of humankind. No matter what age your children are, they revert to young children when a parent is diagnosed with the big C.
can·cer
[kan-ser]
noun
1.
Pathology .
a.
a malignant and invasive growth or tumor, especially one originating in epithelium, tending torecur after excision and to metastasize to other sites.
b.
any disease characterized by such growths.
2.
any evil condition or thing that spreads destructively; blight.
How to have that talk with your kid when one of their parents have been diagnosed with cancer? What a hard thing that was. Harder yet when divorce has put a wedge, as well as miles between the two parents.
Several months ago the father of my youngest two kiddos was diagnosed with lung cancer. After hardships untold with the man, I found myself at a loss with how to handle the situation with the kids. Our daughter flew out to be with him, to spend time with him and make him as comfortable as possible while she could. The cancer quickly spread from his lungs to his brain. My daughter, God bless her, read the Bible to him while she was out there. Miracles of miracles he got better! Praise the Lord! He got stronger and was up and about and getting healthier. We thought he had won his battle. Til this past week. We got the call that he was back in the hospital worse than before. His life expectancy was days.
This vibrant man who had fathered 2 children that I adore, this man who had the power to frustrate me beyond all measure, this man who at one time in my life was my world. Died.
The mess that is my kids life now as they try to deal with the loss of their father, well, it will take the rest of their lives. A son in denial that he will miss his father. A daughter that thinks if she had been there she could have got him better again. We will be picking up these pieces for many many years.
Just Pray
He asks so very little of us, is it so much out of our day to spend a few moments alone with Him and just listen to His words?
We take time out of our day to listen to our children, our spouses, our best friends.
He is forever patiently waiting for us to spend a few moments with Him. Just Do It. He spends ALL of His time on us.

A moment in time
I have had this blog for oh... well awhile now, and randomly post when the Spirit prompts me to. I am sure at this point you are seeing a distinct lack of posting. Am I right? Well Saturday night, January 26th 2013 to be closer to exact. The Lord answered a request I had been pondering, for awhile, quite awhile.
A little back story first, I am dealing with fibromyalgia as well as an assortment of autoimmune disorders which have sapped me, mind, body, and at times soul. When I feel good, I feel great and do what I can in the short period of time that I have til the pain overtakes me again. This has kept me from even thinking of going on any mission trips. My memory is not so good, so I can't go out and preach the word by being a teacher, or a leader of any type (this also falls under the aspect of most of my life is spent in pain and a good portion in bed at any given time). Essentially I have become someone you can't count on to be there when needed. As awful as that sounds.
However as I sat listening to my pastor Saturday night, the sermon was about how we can serve the Lord through different ways. He just wants us to spread His amazing word so that more people can follow those of us who have found Him. That's when it came to me, I have the way to reach the world at my fingertips. Pastor Daniel said the most amazing thing and funny, but it really struck me. He said "You don't see U'hauls following hearsts, you see people following hearsts." You can't take anything with you to heaven other than the people that you help God to reach.
SO I am reaching out to the world. Not for myself, but it's all for Him, His glory and His love.
Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

So about that crafty side...
I have so many things in the oven, I decided to put my crafty stuff on hold for a bit. Or at least til a kid or two moves out so I can actually have room for my tons o craft! I do however still have my Cricut out! That is one thing I just can't give up! :D
Oh all the ideas still floating around in my head for stuff to craft and make. Til I get around to it though I just keep pinning away on Pinterest. Come on in and join me!

Shall we try this again?
It's amazing really what having someone who is holding you accountable can do for you.
I remember when I was younger and my friend Lisa would drag me to our local recreation center and we would do aerobics.
Well here I am 25 years later searching for a work out partner again. I think I have this fibromyalgia under some semblance of control finally.
HOWEVER! Because of being inactive for so very long my stamina is poooooof out the window, gone like a bubble on the wind, well.. you get the picture :). Stamina, something I haven't had in several years. And this coming from a person who used to walk 9 miles a day and could hold my legs in a raised plank position for insanely long amounts of time. I miss those days!
ANYways.. So my options are, drag a friend kicking and screaming out to work out, or make up an imaginary friend to work out with. Neither of those sounds very appealing do they? Well, will keep things updated as I search for someone who wants to get healthy with me! Til then a motivational image and site!
Weight: 213

Such a long hiatus
Quite frankly I just haven't had a whole lot of anything to talk about. Blogging is constantly at the forefront of my mind, and I do have ideas constantly floating around. It's just the actual sitting own and writing something worth while for anyone to find interesting enough to read.
So I think one of my New Years resolution is going to be to post once a week for starters, this is of course with hope that it again turns into a daily part of my life again!
And since I have nothing atm to talk about other than a baby bump shoot that I did a few days, that's what is going to be talked about!
Note to self:
1. Give no more favors to friends for shoots until I have the right lighting
2. No more shooting in their homes, clutter and background "stuff" just causes way too much editing time for me and I gotta tell you. No matter how good you are at editing, you know that the person was extracted out of the background.
3. Run the show, don't settle for less then what you were trying to capture
It really is some simple rules that would have saved me tons of frustration and editing time. My time is worth more than booking multiple settings to "redo" a sitting because of bad lighting.
Can you see whats wrong with these images? Because they are glaring to me!
It's been forever
It really does feel forever, to me at least, since I posted to this blog last. I guess I am just dealing with some major artist block. I have been looking over past pictures, trying to dredge even an ounce of creative inspiration out of something and it's just been.. meh.. nothing to really write home about.
I've been thinking, maybe I need to restart my inspiration series, for myself mostly!
Today is just a short blurb, I kinda like how an image turned out that I edited. I was shooting for a bright springy picture and ended up kinda dark.. I always end up kinda dark.. why is that??

Losing the past
I have such a love hate relationship with Facebook.
I love it, because at 45 it has brought me back in touch with friends from my childhood.
I hate it, because at 45 it has brought me back in touch with friends from my childhood.
You see what I did there? :) Same amount of characters.. just change 4 little letters and it means something totally different.
Now to clarify, I don't hate the people from my childhood.
More to the point. Facebook has brought about knowledge of my mortality. A few years ago, this would have tossed me into a downward spiral of depression. Watching the deaths, aging, horrible accidents and problems that happen to people that were my whole world growing up. All from a distance, unable to change their situations, or help. Well, other then the most important help that is. Sharing Christ with them. I just wish that I knew if I had shared Him enough with everyone.
If not for knowing Christ, I can't imagine how I would handle situations like the one that happened recently. A friend, actually an ex boyfriend of mine, was just killed. At first it was overwhelming, I fell back to the old thought process. He was such a sweet person, how could this have happened, we just talked not long ago, even after 20 some years. We had stayed friends... tears were shed, my husband held and comforted me. Then the Lord wrapped his arms around me and I realized that Del was with Christ and that it was OK, that Del was OK.
I am glad that we stayed friends, that there was closure to our relationship. That we still had a friendship. You will be missed Del.

Le’Roy “DEL” Burns
Passed away due to a tragic accident on April 09, 2012 at Loyola Hospital at 52 years of age. He was a lifelong resident of Romeoville, IL; He was preceded in death by his parents Charlie G. Burns and Betty (Salter) his beloved grandmother Lucille Salter. He is survived by his brother James R. Burns, sister in law Leslie, and his three nephews MARINE LCPL Christopher J. Burns, MARINE LCPL Kevin J. Burns (Taylor), and Eric Burns. Their love for him was that of a second father, he was always more than an Uncle. His beloved dog Rowdy and fat cat Tiger. His Uncle Tip Burns, cousins Sam Burns (Janice), Jeff Burns (Debbie), Justin, David, Ron, (Ann), Ron, Jessica, and Curtis Keith. His lists of best friends are Don, Heather, Gina, Jerry, George, Jenny, Ron, Linda, Tim and Steve. He was loved and touched by so many I could not begin to list them all. His kind and welcome heart attracted people to him. His adventurous spirit led him to classic cars, motor cycles, snowmobiles, and the bigger the boat the better, I guess what we are saying is the more power he could get the better. He was a member and President of the Time Machines Car club. He worked for the village of Romeoville for over 35 years, during his time with the village he was always a part of the union affairs. He lived his life ever day to the fullest, made friends where ever he went. Loved to dance, camp, and just play outdoors with his many friends and family. He played football and wrestling in high school, there is not a member of the Romeoville High from 1972 to 1980 that would not know his name or speak of him in a kind way. This town, these people and hundreds of others from any car show, boat show, or any man or women on the street whether they knew him or not would like him right away. He will be missed by hundreds and forgotten by none. We love you Del and believe you will forever walk with us every day for the rest of our lives until we see you again.
Calvary Cross for SCAL - Cricut
I have a cricut.. I <3 my cricut!
I had a friend who asked if I could create an image of the Calvary Cross for a vinyl decoration.
YES! It turned out so beautiful that I want to share it with the world :). It's also the perfect time of the year for it.
I cannot figure out how to save it as an SVG file yet, so it is in .scut2 format. It turns out beautifully on the Cricut Expression. Please feel free to convert it and share it back if you would like. Otherwise please enjoy this image :).

Fitting song
I'm sitting here listening to my Spotify playlist and this song just screams out about how my life was before Christ.
Does it sound like what your going through, or your past?
Last night got a little crazy
I dont remember, woke up spun with the pasties
My friends say I was tweaked out,
Passed out on a dirty couch, still in the house
It kind a scares me, I dont know
Am out of control, always waking up still in my clothes
I wrote a note that said goodbye to pain, good bye to shame
But couldnt find a way, I just cry for days
Im so depressed, soak in wet, I cant rest
These thoughts just beat me to death Im un-kept
I thought of a song my mom used to sing in church
But its been so long I cant remember the words
Every time you run, every time you hide
Every time it hurts, every time you cry
Every time you run away, every time you hide your face
And it feels so far away, Im right here, with you
Every time you run
I keep sleeping in dont want to wake up
I keep hearing from the landlord pay up
Hide my face in my pillow till the sunsets
Hung over and I havent seen a pay check
I took a job downtown at the factory
I was hired and fired with no salary
I keep running from responsibility
Its seems impossible, the pressure is hitting me
I know I need to man up, or sit down
Stand up and get out of this crowd
I thought of a song my mom used to sing in church
But its been so long I cant remember the words
Every time you run, every time you hide
Every time it hurts, every time you cry
Every time you run away, every time you hide your face
And it feels so far away, Im right here, with you
Well I know Im not ready to die, But Ive
Sure thought about the meaning of life
Cause I cant seem to find a purpose for me
Its just the choices and I fail to proceed
I got a get up, get up, get up, get up
Get up, get up, get up, get up, get up
I hear voices in my mind, ones a devil, ones Jesus
I can feel it can you help me find the pieces
Like an angel on my shoulder, you hold the
Joy of the lord raising up a soldier
You gave me the song my mom used to sing in church
I promised not to quit and I remembered the words
I promised not to quit and I remembered the words
Every time you run, every time you hide
Every time it hurts, every time you cry
Every time you run away, every time you hide your face
And it feels so far away, Im right here, with you
Does it sound like what your going through, or your past?

I promised not to quit and I remembered the words
Every time you run, every time you hide
Every time it hurts, every time you cry
Every time you run away, every time you hide your face
And it feels so far away, Im right here, with you
Well it's official!
I am going to be a Close To My Heart consultant! I've been sitting on the idea for months now. I absolutely love love love their items. Every single one of them! And when I went to a CTMH party last week and found out that they were giving the Art Philosophy cartridge away for free this month to new sign up consultants, well.. I was sold, especially since I had just told my CTMH girl that it was going to be my next purchase!
So, in the next few days I will be building the CTMH products into the site, if anyone is wanting to purchase anything, just contact me! :)
