2012 and turning a new leaf

With 2011 coming to a close, I came to the conclusion that I was going nowhere with my creativity. I have been stagnant for so very long. Then I came across a wonderful site. Triple the scraps.

To say I was moved to inspiration is an understatement. I couldn't wait for the new year to start so that I could start Patters Hymn & Scripture Challenge.

I have been slow to upload the pics to the site, but I have found that I didn't need to. Unlike my past forays with craftyness I always rushed to upload pics, if the item was done or not. I had such a feeling of fulfillment after finishing each of these pieces that I felt "done" with them. I feel that I finally have heard what God has been telling me to do with my creativeness.

My first piece for {HSCRC12} Hymn #1, Amazing Grace. I used an 8x10 canvas. I gave it a once over with gesso and some phone book paper for a nice rough base. From there I just went crazy with some tattered angels glitter mist. Then I used a tattered angels stencil and used structure gel for a raised effect. From there I just layered colors and styles. Having fun with whatever was close at hand.

I shared the image on Facebook and my mother in law promptly asked if I would be willing to donate it to Groundworks Ministries 3rd annual banquet & silent auction on February 4th. I can't make it clear enough how much that made my heart happy! I have always been my own worst critic and never felt my artwork or photography was good enough to even display.

My second project which was very quickly started the same night that I finished the first project was a bit more detailed. This one was for {HSCRC12} Hymn #2, Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus. I decided to delve into my re-use re-purpose stash. I used an empty box from some Kashi cereal. It felt a little flimsy for my plans so I bulked it up a bit with duct tape. I figured the texture would allow me to save extra layers of bulky paper and modpodge layering. I took the idea from Tim Coffeys youtube. It's a 3 part series and well worth the watching. Instead of going into detail on how I created this piece I'll let you watch Tim's videos, please give him "Kudos" for such a great idea!

This piece will also be donated to the Groundworks silent auction. I really hope that they raise a good amount to help them out!

2012 is fast approaching

To go with the theme of a new year I have joined Triple the Scraps 2012 Hymn & Scripture Challenge. I have never done a challenge before, have no idea if I will have the where with all to keep up with it, or if it is going to fall by the wayside.. But I am going to do my best to stick with this. I have decided to do a rolodex version. I have always wanted to mess around with them in a crafty way, here is my chance!

Key word of the day... "Organize"

Sadly it's a word that I must not have been taught while growing up, or maybe it is just the artist in me. Part hoarder, part OCD organizational freak. My inner demons... They battle it out let me tell you.

So far... I have only 2 pics I am willing to share, the rest of the room is just ugh... too messy! :)

Busy bee

Wow it has been amazingly gorgeous weather hasn't it??
I have been super busy cleaning out the attic and creating!
I found some gorgeous old china, some old silverware from when my hubby and I first got married <3 and oh soo very much awesome and vintage stuff. My craft table has been kept full and my camera flashing!

This is what I have up for grabs today.

Even though I am selling these, I am just not sure... I want to keep them so badly, but honestly. I don't know where to put them, I just have too much clutter at the moment.

I created these beauties from some dishes that I found and used some old candle sticks as the dividers! <3 em!!




Are these not absolutely fabulous! I am still so undecided, every time I see them I just want to keep them... must stay strong!

So much chic!

I was torn between keeping these or not! I just adore the slight chippyness and old world feel of these accent tables. Oh the places I could put them in my house. But I can just see them in a tweens bedroom, a place to lay a diary or to drop the days jewelry. Maybe a sparkling bedside lamp and a good book.

I put so much thought into decorating these tables, can you tell? Hope that they find a great home and a very appreciative new owner who will love them as much as I have!

Tables are 17" tall and 18x18 square. I am selling them for $45 each, obo.

First is my pink and black creation. I so wanted to create something that was "Tween" either for a little girl or the little girl in us moms!

My second creation is in Purple and Silver. This is definitely more of a teen and up table, with a little bit of industrial with the silver wrapping and bling!

Cleaned up beautifully - Sold!

I have absolutely looved loved loved this clock since my mother gave it to me many moons ago. However with changing to a rustic southwestern shabby chic look, the retro clock just doesn't match.

This clock keeps wonderful time. I have tightened all the wood rays up, as well as used all natural beeswax on the teak and polished to a gorgeous candle sheen. It made it harder to part with, let me tell you! I took a cloth to the clock face, but didn't want to polish away the rust patina, I have always felt that it added to the funky look. Hopefully the next owner will feel the same.

I am unable to even find this design anywhere online! I found a thumbnail of one that sold back in 2008, but I figured I would err on the side of low. Every other Elgin clock with the same dimensions, age, and style as well as in working condition were going for over $150!

Measurements are
Teak Rays - 8 1/2"
Clock as a whole from top of ray at 12, to bottom of ray at 6. - 25"
Clock face - 7 1/8"
There are a total of 12 teak wood rays and 12 brass balls on a brass circle frame.
